Brian has been playing volleyball since the age of 18 and has been in the field of coaching since age 20. He has made a positive impact on the youth as a Youth Pastor, football coach, flag football coach, and volleyball coach and director. Brian has a passion for the sport of volleyball and helping young athletes become successful both on and off the court. The overall objective for Brian when he encounters young athletes is how can he have a positive impact and help get them on their path for life and success. Brian earned Coach of the Year honors in 2012, and in 2016 took East Bay volleyball to their first ever Regional Appearance. He is currently a PE teacher and head volleyball coach at Riverview High School and has been a college scout for National Scouting Report, www.nsr-inc.com.  His background includes both beach and indoor volleyball as a player and as a coach. Brian and his wife Victoria started Hurricane Volleyball Academy back in 2016 to help the youth athletes in their area have a place they can feel successful at and reach their goals; whether it be to make the local middle school or high school team, or to play at the collegiate level.  Current Head Coach of Riverview HS Volleyball.

Aerianna Smith

Aerianna Smith

I’m Coach Aerianna! I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I moved to Florida in 2019 and transferred to Florida Atlantic University. I then moved over to this side of the state and found my coaching journey starting at HVA. This will be my 3rd club season at Hurricanes, where I have coached 17/18 girls, 17 boys and ran tropical storms. Due to my previous experience coaching many age groups I would say I am easily able to switch my coaching style based on the athletes age and ability. I have been the head coach at Winthrop College Prep Academy for both Girls and Boys Varsity volleyball for going on 3 years now. In high school I played club and school volleyball. I was an all around player, but my main focus was a setter. I currently play beach volleyball in adult leagues and pick up. My goal is to continue to coach and play and grow the love of the sport while teaching each athlete life skills and to find confidence to be the best version of themselves.

Devyn Kalinowski

Devyn Kalinowski

Coach Devyn will be going into her third club season coaching at HVA. Coach Devyn grew up in the Riverview area and graduated from East Bay High School. She is a HVA alumni that went on to play college volleyball on a full ride scholarship. She works one on one with those players interested in collegian athlete preparation. She brings to the club a high level, high intensity coaching experience and encourages those on all levels to achieve positive athlete mentality.

Jazlyn Vereen

Jazlyn Vereen

I’m Coach Jazlyn! I’m from the Riverview area. This is my 3rd club season at HVA working with the 16-18’s Girls and Boys. I played competitively throughout high school and college. My positions varied between attacker and middle blocker. I have 3 years total coaching at the high school level with two years as a head coach. I work specifically with hitters and setters. Currently, I am a personal trainer with specializations in corrective exercises and strength training. My goal is to make sure athletes level up mentally, physically and emotionally.

MK Gibson

MK Gisbson

I’m Coach MK! I started playing volleyball in 2012 and I immediately knew it was the sport for me.  I moved down to Florida in 2014, where I began to play for our Club Director, Brian Adams, at East Bay High School.  That is when my volleyball career began to really take off.  I learned so much through Coach Brian, that by senior year it led me to a college scholarship.  I played collegiate volleyball for 2 years at Daytona State College which was an incredible experience. Since then I have had a sweet baby boy named Mylan who is my absolute world, and also the mascot for my teams! Coaching here at HVA has brought me back full circle with volleyball and I couldn’t feel more blessed to be in the position I am in today.  Go Hurricanes!!
